psgrader Credits and Refunds: Charges, Upgrades, and Returns
The difference between buying credits, spending them, and getting them back — including what cash refunds can and cannot cover.
Updated
On this page
psgrader uses credits for two separate things: buying a credit package and paying for an evaluation. Keeping those two transactions distinct makes the refund rules much easier to understand.
Credits are a unit of payment, not a cash balance
You buy credits in packages priced in US dollars. Packages may include bonus credits, and the per-100-credit rate shown on the pricing page is only a comparison aid: credits are not sold in fractions and cannot be converted back into dollars at will.
Purchases are one-time. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal. Once credits are posted to your account, they remain usable without a time-based expiry. A promotion may have its own claim window, but that window is different from the validity of credits already posted.
Credits are not cash. They cannot be withdrawn, transferred to another account, or resold. A price change does not reduce the number of credits already in your balance; each evaluation uses the price shown at the time you submit.
What a submission charges
Each evaluation is charged once, in credits, at the price displayed before submission. The unit depends on the product line:
- A Common App personal statement is charged as one essay.
- A UC PIQ evaluation is charged once for the four-answer set.
- A UCAS evaluation is charged once for the three-question statement.
If an eligible Quick evaluation is upgraded to Full, the charge is the difference shown on the report page, not the full price again. The upgrade applies to the same essay and product line, once per essay. Compare is a separate product for revised Common App drafts; it is not an upgrade and is not charged as one.
Because prices are configuration rather than constants, this guide does not list fixed credit amounts. The current cost for each product and depth is shown on pricing and again on the submission screen. The amount displayed immediately before you submit is the amount that applies to that evaluation.
When credits are not charged, returned, or refunded
| Situation | What happens to the evaluation credits |
|---|---|
| A pre-evaluation check fails: missing answer, wrong format, over the site's input limit | No evaluation credit is charged |
| A system failure prevents the report from being delivered | The evaluation credits are returned in full |
| Evaluation starts, then the content is confirmed not to be an application essay | A 10-credit processing fee applies; the remaining reserved credits are returned |
| A delivered report has a verified material quality defect | The evaluation credits are refunded in full; regeneration is not the standard remedy |
| You disagree with the assessment but the report is complete and matches your text | No automatic refund; a subjective disagreement is not by itself a quality defect |
Quality-defect requests should generally be made within 7 days after the report is fully generated and accessible, subject to statutory rights and latent-defect exceptions. Support may ask for the report link, the relevant passage, and a description of the specific defect. "I expected a higher tier" or "I do not agree with the comment" is not a defect; a missing section, a report that does not correspond to the submitted text, or a clearly broken output is.
psgrader does not provide manual scoring or re-evaluation. Support can verify billing and quality issues, but cannot re-judge an essay or change a tier because the applicant disagrees with it.
Expiry, account closure, and transfer
Posted credits do not expire solely because time passes. Credits received through a promotion, gift, referral, or signup bonus remain usable under the same general rules, although their refund eligibility may differ from purchased credits.
If an account is closed or terminated, the treatment of remaining credits follows the Terms of Service. Closing an account is not a way to convert unused credits into cash. Statutory rights are unaffected.
Cash refunds
Normal unused purchased credits are not eligible for a cash refund. Exceptions are where the law requires one, or where a charge is verified as incorrect or duplicated.
Once a cash refund is approved, it is initiated to the original payment channel within 15 business days. That is the initiation window, not a guarantee of arrival: the payment provider and your bank control the remaining processing time. A credit return and a bank refund are different events; receiving credits back in your psgrader balance does not mean money has been returned to your card or bank account.
If you believe you were charged incorrectly, contact support first so we can check the charge and correct it if needed. You can still raise a payment dispute with your card issuer or payment provider; applicable consumer rights are unaffected.
What to include in a support request
Email support@psgrader.com with:
- the email address on the account;
- the task or report link, or the order number;
- the product line and depth;
- the submission or charge date and time;
- the debit record or a screenshot of the charge;
- a short description of the problem, with screenshots where useful.
Never send your password, a login verification code, or full card details. Support does not need them. For other product questions, see the FAQ.

FAQ
Do credits expire if I do not use them?
Posted credits do not expire solely because time passes. A promotion may have a separate claim or eligibility window, but that is different from the validity of credits already in your balance.
Can I get cash back for unused credits?
Normally no. Unused purchased credits are not cash-refundable except where required by law or where a charge is verified as incorrect or duplicated. Credits are not a deposit or a cash balance.
Does upgrading to Full charge me twice?
No. An eligible upgrade charges only the difference shown on the report page for the same essay and product line, once per essay. Compare is a separate product, not an upgrade.
